Nərmin Kamal (Baku, 1981) is an author and academic from Baku, Azerbaijan. Her oeuvre includes the study On Umberto Eco and Postmodern Philosophy, the novel Aç, mənəm (Open, It’s Me), the essay collection Küçədən Keçən Adam haqda yazılar (A Passer-by), as well as poems, essays, and short fiction published in Azerbaijani and international media. Nermin Kamal’s writing has appeared in The New York Times, Asymptote Journal, Qantara.de, The Calvert Journal, The Point, BBC World Service/Azerbaijani, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s Azerbaijani Service, among others. Her writing has received recognition and critical acclaim, including:

Nermin Kamal holds a BA (Hons), MA (Hons), and MPhil in Philosophy and completed her PhD research in the History of Philosophy. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at a private university in Baku, teaching courses in Philosophy of Mind, History of Philosophy, Fundamentals of Philosophy, and Formal Logic. Before beginning her academic career, she worked as a journalist and columnist in Azerbaijani media during the early 2000s. Her scholarly papers are published under the name Narmin S.Farajullayeva in peer-reviewed journals.
