Nərmin Kamal (Baku, 1981) is a writer and academic from Baku, Azerbaijan. She is the author of three books published in Baku: On Umberto Eco and Postmodern Philosophy, the novel Aç, mənəm (Open, It’s Me), and the essay collection Küçədən Keçən Adam haqda yazılar (A Passer-by). Her work has been featued in Asymptote Journal, Qantara.de, The Calvert Journal, The Point, The New York Times, BBC World Service/Azerbaijani, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s Azerbaijani Service, as well as in international anthologies, including “Soviet Visuals” (Bloomsbury Publishing, 2020), “Glückliche Wirkungen” (Propyläen Verlag, Berlin, 2017), and “Freiheit. Ich verstehe das Wort nicht, weil ich sie nie entbehren musste” (Dr. Köster Verlag, Berlin, 2008). Her writing has received recognition and critical acclaim, such as:

Nermin Kamal holds a BA (Hons), MA (Hons), and MPhil in Philosophy and completed her doctoral research in the History of Philosophy. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at a private university in Baku, teaching courses in Philosophy of Mind, History of Philosophy, Fundamentals of Philosophy, and Formal Logic. Before beginning her academic career, she worked as a journalist and columnist in Azerbaijani media during the early 2000s. Her scholarly work is published under the name Narmin S. Farajullayeva in peer-reviewed journals.
