
Nermin Kamal is an independent writer, author and philosophy teacher from Baku, Azerbaijan.
She is the author of three books published in Baku: On Umberto Eco and Postmodern Philosophy, the novel “Aç, mənəm” (Open, It’s Me) and the collection of some 70 essays “Küçədən Keçən Adam haqda yazılar” (A Passer-by). Her forthcoming works include a novel and a short story collection.
She holds a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, MA (Hons), and MPhil in History of Philosophy. Currently, she works as a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy (specializing in history of philosophy, philosophy of mind, and formal logic) at a private university in Baku. Her academic articles in philosophy appear under the name N.S. Fərəcullayeva in peer-reviewed journals.
Nermin Kamal’s essays have appeared in The New York Times, Qantara.de, The Calvert Journal, The Point, BBC World Service/Azerbaijani, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s Azerbaijani Service, and mostly in Azerbaijani media, in addition to being featured in several international anthologies. Her writing has received critical acclaim and several awards:
